Keep some AI work right on your Mac

Not every piece of work needs to go to the cloud.

In short

When a task fits local processing, it can stay on your Mac and local AI can become a normal part of the project instead of a separate tool.

Some work is a natural fit for the device: working with local files, doing lightweight reasoning quickly, continuing without a reliable connection, or simply keeping certain content on the machine. In those cases, the value of local AI is not that “the model runs.” It is that local capability can sit inside the same workflow.

Make local AI a normal option for the project

FinchStory is starting to support more AI capabilities that can run directly on the Mac. On Apple silicon, local models such as MiniCPM can become part of a role’s capabilities instead of living in a completely separate tool.

Not everything needs to go to the cloud

You should not need to learn quantization, memory limits, KV cache, or model formats before deciding whether local AI is useful. The more practical questions are whether the task should stay on the device, whether the Mac can handle it, and whether the local role can genuinely contribute to the project.

Keeping some work on the Mac is not only a privacy choice. It is also another way to make the workflow more flexible.

What changed

Let suitable work stay on the Mac.
Present local models as role capabilities instead of a separate product.
Expand usable local AI on Apple silicon over time.
Keep model-running complexity behind the product.
